Two sisters, Lisa and Laura Kempner, who have a love for champagne and all things sparkly, started dreaming of opening a champagne bar after a birthday girl’s trip to Wine Country four years ago. With that dream came a lot of hard work, education, many tastings and a big relocation.
Laura, an international award winning portrait photographer, was living in Northern VA; and Lisa, a business owner, was already living in Galena. The perfect opportunity presented itself when the 116 S. Main location in Galena became available. The goal was to create a beautiful atmosphere for our new friends to relax and enjoy a glass of bubbly or their favorite spirit, in addition to a photography studio for LK Images.
Focused on opening in the summer of 2020, Covid-19 presented some new unimagined challenges. We served our first guests at the end of September, 2020. Blessed with a beautiful secluded backside outdoor courtyard, Champagne on Main was able to entertain clientele in a socially distanced environment throughout the most challenging times.
We look forward to brighter days and expanding our outdoor offerings with seating on Main Street and our private courtyard this spring, and welcoming small groups to our second floor lounge.
